Komitet Nauk Historycznych (KNH) is the Polish national historical committee representing the Polish historians and elected by all historians holding the higher academic degree (habilitation). The Committee is supported by the Polish Academy of Sciences and charged with the cooperation with the International Committee of Historical Sciences. The Committee discusses and formulates opinions mainly on general problems, directions and organization of the historical research, on popularization of historical science, and on the social and professional status of historians working in all institutions on all the levels.

Under the aegis of Committee two periodicals are published: Acta Poloniae Historica (in co-operation with the Institute of History, in English), and Numismatic News (edited by our Commission for Numismatics).
